Clocking Stability and Daily Workflow

Clocking required the most field time. The team discovered that the building’s existing NTP servers introduced jitter when used as backup references, so they locked every switch and endpoint to the same two boundary clocks. Replacing that run with single-mode fiber and adding a third boundary clock dropped drift to under 300 ns across all 80 devices. First, every encoder received a printed label listing its VLAN ID, PTP domain, and static IP so that future service calls do not require a laptop on the roof.
