Add “Local Choice” Plan to STELA Reauthorization

WASHINGTON, DC — In response to a proposal by Senate Commerce
Committee Chairman Jay Rockefeller and Ranking Member John
Thune to connect a plan referred to as “Local Choice” to a Satellite
Television Extension and Localism Act reauthorization invoice, the
following assertion might be attributed to NAB Executive Vice
President of Communications Dennis Wharton:
“While NAB appreciates Chairman Rockefeller and Ranking Member
Thune’s cautious consideration of video programming legal guidelines, this
proposal represents a big rewrite of the Communications
Act. Given the shortness of time between now and the top of the
Congressional session, we query whether or not there’s adequate
time for key committees in Congress to provide this proposal the
thorough evaluate that’s warranted.
